Jean-Baptiste Greuze, The Laundress

I rewashed everything that came back from the mom and pop cleaners the other day. Why? Because they smelled. That musty, bacteria-infested smell of heyaboshi. I was so disappointed.
I threw evreything in the shower booth, put on rubber gloves, poured detergent and fiercely scrubbed them with hot water. Would you believe the pile included three bath towels. I knew it was crazy to rewash everything myself, but i was so ticked off i wanted to get rid of the smell right away. I was a raging laundress. Nothing like the sweet-looking woman in the painting. Im sure I looked pretty scary. I was drenched in sweat. I dont know if it was the rubber or sweat or the combination, my hands and arms got a rash like the kind i get when im in the sun. Just great. Just great.

Once I hung everything on the balcony and calmed down, i realized i had to seriously look for a coin operated laundromat. I had looked it up before and could not find the one that was supposed to be near where we are staying. I researched again to make sure i checked the right location. I walked there and this time confirmed it was gone. Some art school for children was there instead.
So I googled more and found another laundromat. The streetview showed it, too, but it may be an old photo. Getting there did not look so complicated on the map, except it was about 30 minutes away by foot.
But i decided to go. I wanted to wash machine washable items myself. I did not trust the mom and pop cleaners any more. I did not want to bother looking for another cleaners either. I have been using the "top class" cleaners for P's shirts and dry cleaning and they do a decent job (well, so far).
So i walked in the scorching sun for half an hour (of course in long sleeves and with a parasol) and there it was. This time it really was there. I was excited, but could not stand staying there to figure out how to use the facility since here was no air conditioning and i was dying of heat after walking for a long time. I took photos and decided to study them later at the apartment.
